Kaduna Residents Decried Insufficient Water And Food As Lockdown Continues

Residents of Kaduna State has decried the increase in prices of food items and insufficient water supply as the lockdown continued to be enforced against the spread of coronavirus.

Newsmen monitoring some foodstuff shops reports that prices of foodstuffs have gone up astronomically, apparently taking advantage of the lockdown.

some of the residents from Rigasa and Kaduna north local government areas of the state complained that, they can barely eat three times daily due to the high prices of food items in the market.

According to them “Sometimes we eat once a day because food items are very expensive in the market, and we don’t have money to buy because we survive on daily struggle”.

Some of the petty traders in the areas when contacted reiterated  that they survive on daily trade, saying that, since they can no longer do their normal businesses because of coronavirus lockdown, “we are dying of hunger, we are suffering from hunger virus”.

They therefore appealed to the state government to assist them with food items during the lockdown.

Similarly, the Residents of Narayi in chikun local government area of the state also lamented over acute scarcity of water in the area.

Speaking to journalists, some residents of the area said that, they have not receive water from its corporation for the past 7months.

A resident named Amina Kajuru lamented that people suffers so much because of scarcity of  water in the area, saying that he wake up everyday at 3am in search of water from neighbours who have boreholes and help give out water.

They appealed to Kaduna state water board corporation to provide water for them, saying that water is life and its non availability is adding to their sufferings as the lockdown continues.
