In a bid to maintain a green and clean Cross River, the Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade has flagged off the 2019 Green Carnival in Calabar.
The Carnival, which is the maiden edition, had staff of all Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals as well as students who trooped out en mass to ensure that trees are planted to replace the fallen ones.
Speaking during the Flag-Off, Prof. Ayade disclosed that about 1million trees are planted on Tuesday as a justification to support deforestation not only for the Super Highway, but for the Industrial farms springing up adding that 58% of the entire forest of Nigeria is located in Cross River.
He maintained that Cross River is the Headquarters of the absorption of the Carbon monoxide emission which will gain Cross River State access to the international community to demand for green bond
Also speaking, his Abia State counterpart Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, pledged his commitment in partnering Cross River State Government by purchasing some rice seedlings which he said are solid and of high quality.
